Michael Ward (WARDY)
Wardy (Michael Ward) has been in and around sport and fitness for 40yrs. Playing rugby league from the age of 4 through to Brisbane A Grade, Wardy has had sport in his blood. After discovering he could make a career in the fitness industry during high school, he has been coaching clients for nearly 25yrs and is a true fitness professional. This is not a part-time hobby, it is a life long journey to help educate men and women on the importance of a balanced, healthy lifestyle and that lifting large loads long distances quickly is a must to staying active and functional into a person’s older years. After being a competitive bodybuilder during his early 20’s, Wardy ‘stumbled’ across CrossFit training in 2009 and hasn’t used another method of fitness since.
Being in his mid 40’s, Wardy understands that looking good is great, but being able to keep up with your kids, being a good husband and staying active, healthy and mobile are even more important as we age.

Juggling careers, family and in a lot of cases the fear of getting injured can make if difficult for mature athletes to commit to any form of regular physical activities. She is passionate about helping those athletes reach their full potential, whether their goals include wanting to return to playing sport or simply wanting to be able to play with their kids/grandkids without pain.

Here’s What Our Regular Clients Have To Say About Us
Wardy is a highly experienced coach who motivates you to achieve your personal best every time you step through the door.
If you are interested in doing CrossFit but think it’s only for young people think again. Wardy will take you on a journey to places you never thought you could go. His focus on over 30’s is based around teaching correct technique and providing an incredible level of support. Give it a try, it will change your life.
Great place to train with attentive coaches and supportive community.
As a fast-talking New York City broad staying temporarily in Brissy with the specific goal of getting my 40+ year-old butt in shape, I couldn’t be more thrilled that I happened upon Wardy and his CrossFit Triginta, and I CANNOT recommend it highly enough.
Wardy’s incredibly knowledgeable, beautifully welcoming, and so reassuring to someone like me who had real trepidation about starting CrossFit. Best of all he creates an atmosphere where his CrossFitters are warm and supportive to one another, everyone on the same team whether they’re in peak condition or just starting out, whether they’re 30 or 80, all feel welcome, valued and supported.
I’m one of the Directors of a huge dance studio in NYC, so I’m snobby about training methodologies and customer service, and I just couldn’t be more impressed with Wardy and his Triginta box! Thanks Wardy, mate!
Great coach. A seriously sweaty workout!
I joined CrossFit with a reasonable level of cardio fitness, little strength to speak of and a false sense of amazing flexibility. I was always fearful of crossfit based on a perception of insanely fast and heavy weight lifting from YouTube videos that were surely going to land me at the chiropractor. I also thought the people there would be frustrated by my inabilities slowing them down.
My reality has been nothing like the perception. Serious 1-1 coaching finally teaching me correct techniques for everything from a basic squat or stretch (no more ITB pain) to the weight lifting side of things (for the first time ever with no lower back pain) and working through the mental barrier of lifting things over my head (and pushing them back up again). Every trainer in the past has pushed me to lift heavier regardless of my failing technique- Wardy insists on the opposite.
And the other members I was afraid of are actually great- watching them haul 100kg weights and then having them cheer me on with equal enthusiasm lifting sometimes just the bar is a pretty cool group to be a part of.
Wardy at CrossFit Triginta is an excellent coach – dedicated to challenging you and constantly improving your skills, but also dedicated to making your workout experience comfortable, safe and enjoyable at all times.
I would recommend CrossFit Triginta for everyone from brand new to extremely experienced athletes. In my two months with Wardy I’ve achieved my first ever handstand and my first ever rope climb, after over a year of being unable to do either.
I was someone who thought CrossFit was dangerous and a bit of a waste of time, then I met Wardy. He’s FREAKING AMAZING! He’s a coach who actually cares about you and what you want to achieve, AND will help you achieve those goals.
I absolutely love training at CrossFit Triginta!!
For anyone who isn’t sure about CrossFit, this is the place to start.
Over 30’s CrossFit gym appealed to me for starters! I remember my first conversation with Wardy expressing how great I thought the concept was . . . and it is. I began with the with Jumpstart Program (6 x PT sessions) and found Wardy’s style of coaching very informative and safe, instilling the confidence in me to pursue ongoing group sessions. Even within the group sessions he still makes time to encourage, support and correct technique when necessary, ensuring you maximise your potential. The other members I have met at CrossFit Triginta make turning up to sessions an enjoyable and supportive environment. Each day is different but I can assure you, your whole body will get a workout! The best thing is, if you’re like me and unfit to start, there’s no need to be concerned, Wardy knows how to ‘scale’ things so that you can start at a level that suits you and gradually work your way up from there. ANYONE can do this and should try it at least once in their life-time . . . then you wont need to look anywhere else. Love your work Wardy.
Never done anything like this before but totally loved it. Awesome trainer, felt very safe doing crazy moves I never would have thought I could. Pelvic floor post 2 kiddies has never been better after only a month, to hell with pelvic floor exercises, do CrossFit!
I joined Crossfit Triginta on the advice of a friend who was already a long way further down the training road than I. Quite frankly, I was terrified. And I thought she was batpoop crazy.
I have 2 kids, and zero fitness ability that extends past playing in the park. Crossfit?? Seriously?? I had seen the YouTube videos, and I could do absolutely none of the elements. ZERO! Pull-ups in my house were of the Huggies variety!
Truthfully, the thing that worried me the most was embarrassing myself. Turning up and being terribly intimidated, and never going back. Anyone who has struggled to find their way in a fitness environment will know what I’m talking about.
The thing is, I couldn’t do any of the things I had seen because no one had ever asked me to, let alone taught me how to.
Wardy (owner, Michael Ward) did six 1 hour-long one-on-one sessions with me (six!), coaching and upskilling until I could join the regular group.
And every day I go there is something different to do, and most days it kicks my ass and pushes me past the day before, but you know what, I only know that because I turn up. I seem to have found the place where I feel comfortable enough to keep showing up, knowing it’s going to hurt, but knowing that the people here have my back.
Let me be perfectly clear, if you are superfit, or an experienced Crossfitter, or a really competitive athlete, there are people here who will blow your mind. Don’t let my review fool you. This not a sewing circle. You will be right at home with some of the people here.
And people like me will look to you to see what we might be able to do in the future. Wardy says the motto here is never “I can’t do that!” but is always ” I can’t do that…..yet!”
Wardy is a highly experienced coach, always wanting to get the very best from the athletes. He plays no favourites, always pushing you to do more and better. If you’re new to CrossFit, he will make the experience as pleasant as possible!
Insanely GOOD!!! Wardy is a great CrossFit instructor who makes you feel comfortable and welcome. As a beginner the jumpstart program exceeded my expectations and the main workouts are fun and challenging! The equipment is top notch and there’s a great community feel. I wish I joined sooner!
CrossFit Triginta is a great place for training with a highly qualified, motivated and helpful caring coach. I can see the changes in myself as a healthier and more focused person.
I have been coached in the past by Wardy and have tried a few other places but no one compares to Wardy. If its strength, conditioning or just motivation your after, this is the place to be. I love it and you will too. Plenty of room and great atmosphere. The best over 30’s box around.
I’m a Personal Trainer in my early 40’s. Due to a back injury, I became unfit, overweight and unhappy. I was 1 day away from having gastric bypass surgery. It was going to cure everything and give me my life back again. Lose weight – less strain on back – go back to work again in fitness industry – “look the part”. I was devastated the surgery was cancelled the day before. I needed a change of plan and a positive attitude adjustment. I always loved the idea of crossfit but it scared me. I thought I needed to be fit to start.
With 2 months of procrastination I finally went to an information night at Crossfit Triginta. I kept thinking ” just give it 3 months and see how you go”. Now 5 months in wishing I started sooner. My fears were for nothing. I have 2 amazing coaches that know how to instruct, put form before load and modify my workouts to cater for my back while still getting an awesome workout. I’m surrounded by like minded people around my own age who greet me by name and interested in how my day was every session. I used to joke and say ” I want to be skinny so I can wear Lorna Jane” .
Being a Crossfit Triginta member, I now say ” I want to be strong so I can bend over and pick up my groceries without any pain when I’m well into my 80’s”. Coaches Wardy and Maz have created a space that has a strong community spirit, isn’t intimidating or ego based, but is fun and rewarding. Most importantly, they make it personal.
If you are reading this review, close the computer down and come down and train, it’s great, you’ll love it and you’ll feel good.
I’ve just completed 6 one-on-one PT sessions as part of the JumpStart program. Through this I’ve learned how to complete foundation movements correctly (deadlifts, squats, presses) as well as begin learning Olympic lifting (snatch, clean and jerk). Wardy’s coaching is clear, firm, and encouraging. I enjoy training at CrossFit Triginta because I feel motivated to perform at my best and receive constant coaching and feedback on my form and technique.
Wardy is a highly experienced and qualified trainer that is inspiring to be trained by. I feel very fortunate to have found him. As a very unfit, over-40, mother of 2 young children, I’m not the most obvious candidate for CrossFit but Wardy has mentored me to the point where I feel like I can do anything. I have just finished 6 private introductory sessions and I’m really looking forward to getting started on the CrossFit program. Did I just say I’m looking forward to it? That’s Wardy’s magic.
